PAM was the name of the blue theater I started in 2013 inside a small, second floor studio in Highland Park, Los Angeles. The residency program gave performing artists time to research their practice and produce shows. For its 8 year run PAM was the only free residency in Los Angeles specifically for making long form performance work. Through PAM I had the privilege of working with over 300 artists and witnessing their process unfold.

There were windows on every wall; two looking into the hall and a big one looking out onto Figueroa Street. All the noises, voices, and music of the neighborhood, the light and breezes, poured into that blue room to play with the bodies inside. At seven o’clock, a street lamp, so close to the window you can reach out and touch it, flickers on.

PAM was a little room. PAM was an entity made of time and care and space that collaborated with the work made inside its walls.

Long live her spirit.
