Description
Brian Getnick presents
"I'LL TEACH YOU A LESSON"
In three darkly funny performances a professor insists that the intricate creatures around him are metaphors for his past mistakes. He soon realizes that their terrifying appetites are beyond his control. Featuring the fantastic costumes of THE BALLET performance troupe. Live musical accompaniment throughout.

SATURDAY GUEST PERFORMANCES by Pashly and Elijah Crampton of e&e!
I'LL TEACH YOU A LESSON is the third installment of WE ARE THE ARENA, an ongoing performance project which uses theatrical satire as a way of framing subconscious desires. These desires are embodied in the sculptural costumes of THE BALLET performance troupe. Other performances by THE BALLET include: Honestas et Diligentia at The Silver Platter, Summoning Mistakes at Phyllis Stein Gallery, The Adored Young Man at Highways, and Introducing Mr. Personality at LACE

Locations of Elsewhere deals with parallel realities in artists work either in its formal or conceptual qualities. A parallel reality is a state that we are continually in and that we are regularly experiencing. In each year, day or hour we encounter a barrage of contradicting and colliding attitudes, thoughts, sensations, desires, emotions and dreams. This condition is even more heightened for artists as they experience parallel realities as human beings and as artists in the conceptualization and in the creation of their work.
The Gentlemen's Gentlemen
A success in Ghent! Well received. We met some wonderful people who will be
contributing to our month long performance in May 2008. Noe and I will also be producing a book of our collected writing related to the GG project through Croxhapox this summer.

Gallery 1: "Twin Reflections"curated by Leah Oates Artwork by: Brian Getnick and Rob Carter
Twin Reflections deals with shifting realities in artists work either in their formal or conceptual qualities.
Brian Getnicks "Hog Head Theater" is an oversized pig portrait made from cardboard. When viewed from the opposite direction, the hollow cavern inside the swine's skull creates a miniature scale theater. A small drawing of a potted palm dimly back lit stars center stage. Further pushing into a folkloric state, Getnick creates a site specific drawing that presses the walls of the gallery into the realm of an ancient wooden church in the Carpathian mountains.
Rob Carter's video animation "Four Extracts from Stills" depicts people collapsing into shifting worlds. In Carter's photographic work from "The Fallen Book" and the "Transfer Series", small windows emerge in landscape or architecture that one could fall into much like Alices rabbit hole in Wonderland.
